My tenant experience with Safeguard was bad. Merrilee makes a habit of making herself unreachable. The public facing phone number is an answering service that she takes 3-5 days to reply to. When she does reply she always apologizes and says "sorry i was out of office". Apparently she's out of office most days. Merrilee was particularly bad at notifying us of any changes and/or needs for the property or HOA. Repeatedly failed to notify us in time for parking and HOA changes causing us to be towed and fines and fees with the HOA. She would not take responsibility, blaming the owner and the HOA, for her completely insufficient communication and forced us to pay for her negligence out of our pockets. Our dishwasher was actively leaking onto the hardwood floors and Merrilee wanted us to wait 3 days for her to get a guy out there. RIP to the floors, I guess. Maintenance man came out when we complain about the water heater sounding like it was firing a gun. The maintenance guy said the water heater was original to the property and was 10+ years overdue for replacing. When following up with Merrilee she completely lied and said the maintenance guy said the water heater still had years of life in it. WRONG. Avoid Safeguard and Merrilee if you value your sanity and comfort.

Another year has passed, and I still have nothing to complain about Safeguard Property Management. They have been managing my rental property in Sandy for number of years and have been doing an outstanding job. I've been relying on them for selecting tenants and communicating with them, taking care of minor repairs, doing annual inspections and maintenance. I'm really happy with Safeguard's services and Merrilee has been always very professional and responsive. She always responds to my requests within a day and never neglects any of my questions. I highly recommend Safeguard's services without any reservations.
